Defense files appeal with new reconstruction

The footage, taken by a security camera at the Mutua Universal building in Barcelona on 20 February 2024, shows the Mango founder losing balance and falling without extending his hands, a pattern defense experts reproduced at the exact site of the fatal fall on Montserrat using mannequins, drones, and sensors.

Medical explanation challenges homicide hypothesis

The defense argues that Isak Andic suffered from bilateral gonarthrosis (knee osteoarthritis), which reduced his reaction time and caused articular collapse. This condition, they claim, explains the absence of palm injuries—a key point used by the prosecution to suggest foul play.

In these losses of balance, there is no defensive reaction and therefore no palm injuries.

The biomechanical reconstruction reportedly produced injury patterns matching the autopsy findings.

Accusations of police misconduct

Francisco Marco, a private investigator from Método 3 and a defense expert, publicly accused a Mossos d'Esquadra sergeant of ‘inventing evidence’ and conducting a ‘manhunt’ against Jonathan Andic. Marco claimed the first witness—a hiker who assisted Jonathan immediately after the fall—was never formally interviewed.

He is convinced that Jonathan must be guilty and has done everything to catch the man.

He also provided roaming records showing the defendant's phone did connect in Ecuador, undermining the prosecution's suspicion. Additionally, the defense challenged the footprint evidence as contaminated due to an improper chain of custody.
