Who is leaving

The board dismissed Filip Czernicki as president on 30 July 2026, together with board member Dariusz Kuś, who was responsible for railway investments. Czernicki had led the company since April 2024, a little over two years. Until the appointment, Marcin Michalski, a board member, performed the president's duties.

Borys's rail career

Borys spent a dozen or so years in management roles within the investment structures of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe. The company's sources credit him with taking part in introducing a 200 km/h maximum line speed in Poland, which allowed Pendolino services to start in 2014. He also supervised the rail link to Warsaw Chopin Airport, completed for Euro 2012, and worked as a project engineer on infrastructure built under FIDIC international contract conditions. Since September 2024 he had worked in the management of CPK's railway subprogramme. He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology and from the Warsaw School of Management.

In the statement announcing his appointment, Borys said the following.

“My goal is the efficient running of the company, good use of the team's competences and consistent implementation of the adopted plans.”

Piotr Borys

Port Polska moves into construction

The appointment comes as Port Polska shifts from preparation and design to building large infrastructure. CPK is wholly owned by the State Treasury and is responsible for a central airport between Warsaw and Łódź and a high-speed rail network. According to the schedule cited by the company, airport construction is due to begin in 2026, with the port opening in 2032. The first high-speed section, between Warsaw and Łódź and about 130 km long, is to be launched by the end of 2032. Further sections linking Łódź with Poznań and Wrocław are planned for completion by 2035, and trains on the new lines will be able to reach 320 km/h.
