Three new complaints filed against French singer Patrick Bruel: two for rape, one for sexual assault of a minor
Three new complaints, including two for rape and one for sexual assault of a minor, have been filed against French singer and actor Patrick Bruel, his accusers’ lawyers said on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
French singer Patrick Bruel, 67, already indicted in four sexual violence cases since June, now faces three additional complaints filed on June 25 and July 1 with the examining magistrate in Nanterre, outside Paris. Two concern rape, and one involves sexual assault on a minor aged 15.
The new complaints
According to the investigative outlet Mediapart, confirmed by the accusers’ lawyers, the first complainant, identified under the pseudonym Stéphanie, alleges a rape that took place in 2014 during an international poker event. The second, Jeanne, accuses Bruel of a rape and an attempted rape in the early 2000s. Both are represented by lawyers Corinne Herrmann and Sonia Kanoun. The third complainant, represented by Benjamin Chouai, says she was sexually assaulted at age 15 in September 1992 in New York, where she was volunteering at the US Open.
Defense response
Bruel’s lawyers, Fanny Colin, Céline Lasek and Christophe Ingrain, stated that the singer would respond to what they called “false accusations in the only relevant and appropriate setting: the courts, if they are seized of these facts.”
Only the judicial authority is currently able to establish the facts in a case constantly polluted by media noise.
Existing cases and a challenged dismissal
Bruel was already indicted in June in four separate cases: a rape in Neuilly-sur-Seine in 2008, an attempted rape in Brussels in 2010, sexual assault and harassment in Perpignan in 2019, and sexual harassment in Ajaccio also in 2019. He is also under the more favorable status of assisted witness in four other cases. A ninth case, a rape alleged to have occurred in Grenoble in 2000, was dismissed by investigating judges on the grounds of the statute of limitations.
- Alleged sexual assault on a 15-year-old volunteer at the US Open in New York
- Rape allegation in Grenoble (case dismissed for prescription, appeal filed)
- Rape alleged in Neuilly-sur-Seine (indicted June 2026)
- Attempted rape alleged in Brussels (indicted June 2026)
- Rape alleged during an international poker event
- Sexual assault and harassment in Perpignan, sexual harassment in Ajaccio (indicted June 2026)
- Bruel indicted in four cases, released under judicial supervision
- Two new rape complaints and one sexual assault complaint filed in Nanterre
- Additional complaint filed; appeal on Grenoble prescription submitted
Appeal on prescription
Corinne Herrmann, representing the Grenoble complainant, has appealed the judges’ decision to contest the prescription ruling. That appeal could reopen the ninth case, adding to the cascade of legal proceedings now surrounding the singer.
We have appealed the decision to challenge the statute of limitations applied in this case.
The three new filings and the pending appeal deepen a judicial net that has closed rapidly around Bruel since early June 2026. While none of the allegations have been tested in a full trial, the number of accusers and the variety of jurisdictions involved mark a significant expansion of the legal pressure on the once-revered entertainer.
