Apple TV+ unveils first Neuromancer teaser at SDCC, sets January 2027 premiere
The 10-episode adaptation of William Gibson's cyberpunk novel stars Callum Turner and Briana Middleton, with a weekly release starting January 22, 2027.
The teaser and the announcement
Apple TV+ used its first-ever Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con to unveil the first teaser for Neuromancer, its adaptation of William Gibson's 1984 cyberpunk novel. The one-minute teaser, released on July 26, 2026, offered a first look at the series' visual style and its lead characters. The streamer confirmed that the 10-episode season will premiere on January 22, 2027, with the first two episodes dropping together, followed by one episode each week through March 19.
The story and the cast
Neuromancer follows Case, a damaged, top-rung super-hacker, who is pulled into a web of digital espionage and high-stakes crime alongside Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes. The pair aim to pull off a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets. Callum Turner stars as Case, with Briana Middleton as Molly. The cast also includes Mark Strong as Armitage, Joseph Lee as Hideo, Clémence Poésy as Marie-France Tessier, Peter Sarsgaard as John Ashpool, Emma Laird as Linda Lee, Max Irons as Jean Tessier-Ashpool, Dane DeHaan as Peter Riviera, Marc Menchaca as Dixie Flatline, Andre de Shields as Julius Deane, and Isabella Pappas as Mitchell.

The creative team's vision
Co-creator and showrunner Graham Rowland appeared on stage to discuss why the adaptation arrives at a moment when Gibson's imagined technologies are no longer fiction. "Forty-two years ago, this book felt like pure science fiction," Rowland said. "He wrote about the collision of artificial intelligence and human intelligence before artificial intelligence existed. Now we're living in a world 42 years later, where these things are part of all of our everyday lives, so it felt like an appropriate time for us to revisit the text and to put it in a new light now that these things were actually here." Rowland described Case as an atypical protagonist, a criminal and survivor driven by desperation, and praised Turner's ability to balance the character's dangerous edge with humanity and charisma. "One of the things that we felt was very important was that this is very much Case's story," Rowland said. "From the beginning to the end, you're following him, and that charisma needs to carry you along for 10 episodes. And Callum certainly brought that."
Cast and author reactions
Turner, who beamed in a video message, called the project special. "We've been building something special with Neuromancer," he said. "A world our dear William Gibson imagined in 1984. He didn't just give us cyberspace; he helped define the entire cyberpunk genre." Gibson, an executive producer on the series, shared the teaser on Bluesky and expressed his satisfaction. "Anyone who doesn't see how very satisfied I've been throughout production doesn't get what I most want out of an adaptatation," he wrote. "Mind you, that does tend to happen."
What comes next
The series will run weekly after its two-episode launch, concluding on March 19, 2027. Apple TV+ continues to expand its science fiction slate, which already includes Foundation, Silo, Severance, and Murderbot. The Neuromancer teaser was one of several SDCC reveals, alongside a first look at Prime Video's Carrie miniseries and trailers for Dark Matter season two and Matchbox: The Movie.
