Karol Nawrocki draws political scrutiny over Koszalin boxing visit and sister's brand
Polish President Karol Nawrocki attended a boxing event in Koszalin to support his friend Kacper Meyna, prompting political controversy over promotional branding and the official delegation's regional ties.
Attendance at Koszalin boxing gala
Polish President Karol Nawrocki attended a professional boxing gala in Koszalin organized by sports promoter Krystian Każyszka. The visit centered on supporting heavyweight fighter Kacper Meyna, a personal friend of the president. Meyna faced Argentine boxer Victor Emilio Ramirez in the headline bout of the evening and secured a victory. Following the conclusion of the fight, Nawrocki entered the ring to present the winner's medal directly to Meyna. The appearance followed an earlier event in Kościerzyna, where Nawrocki watched Meyna defeat Junior Anthony Wright by first-round knockout.
Commercial scrutiny over the Nowrocky brand
The presidential appearance attracted scrutiny due to commercial branding displayed during the event. Prize bags presented to fighters featured the logo of Nowrocky, a commercial firm producing apparel and limited-edition watches named Prezydent 1, which had previously received promotion on Telewizja Republika. The trademark was registered by Nawrocki's sister and combines references to the film character Rocky with slogans from the president's political campaign. The Chancellery of the President stated that it does not influence organizers regarding event sponsors and affirmed that Nawrocki maintains no connection to the brand. Presidential social advisor Jakub Banaszek addressed the questions during an interview on TVN24.
If someone believes that legal regulations are being broken, this matter should be reported. The appropriate services should handle it.
Political reactions and promoter response
Opposition politicians questioned the background of the event and its organizers. Member of Parliament Bartosz Arłukowicz, a former health minister under Donald Tusk and Ewa Kopacz, commented on social media about Każyszka's commercial background in used car sales and watch advertising. Każyszka responded publicly, differentiating his role as a promoter from a manager, stressing his organization's collaboration with Olympic boxing, and noting that politicians from across the political spectrum regularly attend his events. Former fighter Marcin Najman also published a video addressing critics from the governing coalition, noting that the gala featured legitimate title bouts rather than freak fights. Najman also referenced Nawrocki's recent signing of retroactive windfall tax legislation on fuel companies.
These attacks on the President of Poland, for being a guest at a boxing gala and for signing the bill, are so foolish and biased that they show the entire political mentality.
Western Pomerania itinerary and regional party roles
The boxing event coincided with an official presidential tour of Western Pomerania alongside Chief of Cabinet Paweł Szefernaker and Chancellery Head Zbigniew Bogucki. Both officials lead regional Law and Justice party structures in the Koszalin and Szczecin electoral districts respectively. The delegation linked the gala appearance with official regional engagements, including a public meeting with local residents and right-wing activists in Stargard. The scheduled itinerary in Koszalin included a visit to the Higher School of the Border Guard as well as the laying of flowers at a monument dedicated to Lech Kaczyński and Ryszard Kaczorowski. Każyszka announced that his next Rocky Boxing event will take place on 28 November in Sopot.
