Roman is equipped with a 300-megapixel infrared camera capable of capturing wide panoramas of deep space. The camera delivers the spatial resolution of Hubble while providing a field of view at least 100 times larger, with some estimates citing more than 200 times Hubble's area. Roman will use its broad infrared vision to map wide regions of the sky and uncover targets of interest. Hubble will provide follow-up observations across ultraviolet, visible, and optical wavelengths, while James Webb utilizes its larger primary mirror to execute deep, highly detailed observations of specific targets identified by Roman.
