Lobotka ends Napoli losing streak

Napoli halted a run of three consecutive defeats across all competitions by earning a 1-0 win against Bologna at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday. Slovakian playmaker Stanislav Lobotka scored the decisive goal midway through the second half, securing all three points for the home side in the fourth round of the Serie A season. The victory eased pressure on manager Massimiliano Allegri, whose squad had endured a difficult start to the campaign. Napoli had taken only three points from their first three Serie A fixtures, representing the club's worst domestic start in 11 years. That league form was followed by a midweek defeat against English club Arsenal in the Champions League.

First-half chances and disallowed header

Bologna produced early danger and nearly took the lead in the seventh minute of play. Defender Arthur Theate directed a header into the Napoli net, but match officials disallowed the effort after ruling him offside. Napoli responded by creating opportunities to test the visiting defence. Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne received the ball in a promising attacking position but sent his shot over the crossbar. Forward Rasmus Hojlund created another opportunity for the hosts when he directed a glancing header toward the net, but the attempt missed the target as Bologna kept the match level heading into the interval.

Second-half decider and goalkeeping saves

The decisive goal arrived in the 66th minute following an attacking move engineered by a second-half substitute. Costantino Favasuli, who entered the match at half-time, sent a low cross into the penalty area from wide. Lobotka connected with the delivery, guiding a cushioned volley past the goalkeeper to put Napoli ahead 1-0. Napoli looked to extend their lead, and Hojlund generated another attempt on target shortly afterwards. Bologna's 18-year-old goalkeeper Massimo Pessina made a save to deny the forward and prevent Napoli from doubling their advantage.

Standings movement and Bologna struggles

Bologna manager Domenico Tedesco was unable to direct his team from the technical area, watching the match from the stadium stands due to a suspension. His side attempted to find a late equaliser, with Samuel Mbangula generating a scoring chance in the closing stages, but Bologna failed to convert. The blank marked the third time in four Serie A games this season that Bologna failed to score a goal. The result left Bologna on one point from four matches, placing them 16th according to one tally and 17th according to another. Napoli rose to ninth place in the table on six points. Elsewhere in Serie A action, Lecce earned a 3-2 win against winless Monza, registering their second victory of the season to move into 11th place.
