The Indonesian Grand Prix is the 17th round of the MotoGP season and takes place on Sunday 11 October at the Mandalika circuit, according to Ouest France. Marc Márquez moved to the top of the riders' standings after winning Saturday's sprint on a Ducati, and Adnkronos reports he now holds a four-point advantage over Jorge Martín, who finished fourth in that sprint. El País describes Márquez as a seven-time world champion who is seeking to break a tie with Valentino Rossi and catch Giacomo Agostini, who leads the all-time table with eight titles. Martín, the 2024 world champion, has won only once this season, in France, and El País describes last year as a bitter season for him. Ouest France notes that Martín arrived in Indonesia at the top of the standings before Márquez's sprint win moved him back in front.
Saturday qualifying and sprint
Raul Fernandez took pole position on Saturday, the first pole of his career, according to Ouest France, with Marco Bezzecchi placed second on the grid. Martín and Márquez start from the second row on Sunday morning. In the sprint, Ai Ogura finished second for Aprilia Trackhouse and Fabio Di Giannantonio finished third for the VR46 Ducati team. The French riders had a weaker sprint, with Johann Zarco (LCR-Honda) taking 15th place and Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) ninth. Ouest France reports that the French riders hope to do better in the race.

The Mandalika circuit
La Repubblica describes the Mandalika track as 4.31 km long, running clockwise with 17 corners, 11 to the right and 6 to the left. The paper says the layout puts particular pressure on the right side of the tyre, alternating fast bends with direction changes. The braking into Corner 1, at the end of the long straight, is identified as the key point for overtaking, with braking zones at Corners 10 and 16 also named as important. According to the same report, the final sector matters because a rider who exits the last corner strongly can prepare an attack for the following lap. La Repubblica expects close duels and spectacle at the circuit.
What to watch in the race
El País frames the Sunday race as another chapter in a championship that Márquez currently leads, with Martín as his principal rival. Ouest France asks whether the championship lead could change hands again after the Grand Prix, and it reports that Márquez and Martín will start from the second row. Both Ducati and Aprilia riders feature prominently in the sprint results, which Adnkronos and Ouest France both report. Sunday's finishing order will show whether Márquez keeps the lead he took on Saturday or whether Martín, or another rider, reduces the gap.
