Álvaro Morata joins CD Leganés on season loan from Como with purchase option

Spanish second-division club CD Leganés confirmed on Friday the signing of 33-year-old striker Álvaro Morata on a one-season loan from Italian side Como 1907. The agreement includes an option to purchase the forward at the end of the 2026-2027 season, with Como continuing to pay a large portion of the player's salary. Morata arrived at the club's training facilities on Friday morning to undergo medical checks and complete the paperwork before joining the squad managed by head coach Rubén Albés. The club scheduled his presentation for Friday at 21:00 at Estadio Ontime Butarque, where he will wear the number 21 shirt. Leganés announced the addition of the veteran attacker as part of its effort to earn promotion to La Liga.

Career trajectory and transfer fees

Morata began his professional career at Real Madrid, making his first-team debut in December 2010 after advancing through the club's youth academy. Across his career, he has accumulated over 600 appearances, more than 200 goals, and 20 trophies, including two UEFA Champions League titles, two Spanish league championships, two Copas del Rey, and two Italian Serie A titles. In 2014, Juventus signed the forward for €20 million, where he scored 27 goals in 93 games across two seasons before Real Madrid exercised a €30 million buy-back clause in 2016. Chelsea acquired him in 2017 for approximately €80 million, after which he moved to Atlético Madrid, initially on an €18 million loan in 2019 followed by a permanent €35 million transfer in 2020.
