Taxi driver murdered in Młynki: suspect to be charged Monday after arrest in Gdańsk
A 27-year-old man from Czersk is due to be questioned on Monday in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 75-year-old taxi driver in a forest parking lot near Młynki, prosecutors said. The suspect, Mateusz G., was arrested in Gdańsk on Saturday afternoon while intoxicated.
A 75-year-old taxi driver was killed in the early hours of Saturday, 13 June, on a roadside parking lot off national road DK22 near Młynki in Pomerania. The suspect, 27-year-old Mateusz G. from Czersk, was arrested later that day in Gdańsk and is scheduled for questioning and charging on Monday, 15 June, at the Chojnice district prosecutor’s office.
The discovery
The victim’s body was found shortly before midnight on the night of 12–13 June. Emergency responders arrived at the scene but did not attempt resuscitation. The taxi driver was dead. His Mercedes was located several hundred metres away. Police and the prosecutor’s office began an immediate investigation.

The attack
According to the initial findings, Mateusz G. ordered a ride towards Chojnice. During the trip, he directed the driver to pull into the roadside parking lot. There, the 75-year-old was attacked with a knife. A preliminary autopsy showed three wounds: a slash to the neck inflicted while still inside the car, and two stab wounds to the chest outside the vehicle. The suspect then drove off in the victim’s Mercedes, but likely did not take the driver’s keys, so the car stopped after travelling only a few hundred metres.

Investigation and arrest
Prosecutors point to a robbery motive.
After the crime, police searched for the 27-year-old and released his details and photo. Mateusz G. was arrested on Saturday, 13 June, at 2 p.m. in Gdańsk. He was under the influence of alcohol, which delayed procedural actions. He was taken to the police detention centre in Chojnice.The target was the victim’s Mercedes.
Investigators have secured bloodstained clothing belonging to Mateusz G. and fingerprint evidence. The murder weapon, a knife, has not been found.
We have scheduled procedural steps with the murder suspect for Monday. We cannot carry them out earlier because the man was under the influence of alcohol at the time of arrest.
What’s next
The Chojnice prosecutor’s office plans to press charges on Monday. After hearing the suspect, the prosecutor will decide on any further measures, including a possible pre-trial detention request.
