AC Milan targets Frankfurt's Krösche for executive role after Rangnick rejection
After a disappointing Serie A season and a sweeping clear-out of managers, AC Milan has approached Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche, while Ralf Rangnick already declined and Oliver Glasner emerges as coaching candidate.
The shake-up at San Siro
AC Milan missed out on Champions League qualification in the just-finished Serie A season, triggering a comprehensive overhaul. Coach Massimiliano Allegri was dismissed, and the club also parted ways with its managing director, sporting director, and technical director. The Rossoneri now need to fill multiple senior positions before the new campaign.
Krösche attracts interest
Markus Krösche, the 45-year-old sporting director of Eintracht Frankfurt, is among the names AC Milan are considering for one of the vacant leadership posts. Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport named him as a candidate, a report later corroborated by transfer specialists Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano. Krösche, who has a contract in Frankfurt until 2028, declined to comment on the speculation. He has been credited with a series of astute transfer moves during his five-year tenure, raising his profile across Europe.
Rangnick and other candidates
Austria's national team manager Ralf Rangnick had previously been approached by Milan but turned down the opportunity, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. His role, however, would not have been as head coach. The club's shortlist also includes Ramon Planes, 58, most recently sporting director at Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad, and Devin Ozek, 31, who served in the same capacity at Fenerbahce Istanbul.
Glasner in coaching frame
Oliver Glasner, who led Eintracht Frankfurt from 2021 to 2025, is being discussed as a possible successor to Allegri. Glasner guided Crystal Palace to the Conference League title this season, the club's first European trophy, and has already announced he will leave the Premier League side. Romano noted that no agreement with Milan has been reached yet.
