Lionel Messi orders 27-metre ULTIMA 88 catamaran from Gdańsk-founded Sunreef Yachts
The catamaran is being built at Sunreef's facility in Ras Al Khaimah and will join the MIM Ocean charter fleet based in the Balearic Islands. Neither the delivery date nor the price has been disclosed.
The order
Lionel Messi has ordered an ULTIMA 88 catamaran from Sunreef Yachts, the luxury yacht builder founded in Gdańsk, Poland. Reports published on 13 October 2026 say the company announced the order on social media, and its post described the model as a dynamic design that fits Messi's style, personality and love of perfection. The yacht is being built at Sunreef's facility in Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates, which opened in 2024. Trojmiasto.pl reported Messi's comments on the purchase, in which he said that he and his family have always loved spending time at sea and that he is looking forward to trying the ULTIMA 88 with his family. The articles do not say when the vessel will be handed over to him or what it costs.
Vessel specifications
The ULTIMA 88 is about 27 metres long and has five cabins, four guest cabins and a master suite that spans the full width of the hull. Two engines of 1,000 horsepower each will power the boat, but the producer has not disclosed the individual performance figures for Messi's unit. Other boats in the series were designed to reach up to 26 knots, about 48 km/h. The yacht includes an Ocean Lounge at water level for sunbathing, swimming and water sports, plus a garage for a jet ski. Its large flybridge, an additional upper deck, gives guests more space for relaxing outdoors. Money.pl reported that the model's price ranges from about 34.7 million zloty to nearly 40 million zloty, but it did not link that range to Messi's vessel.
Fleet and charter business
The yacht will join MIM Ocean, a fleet of charter catamarans based in the Balearic Islands. Przegląd Sportowy reported that the MIM Ocean brand was formed by combining Messi's MIM hotel network with the charter company Med Cat Yachts. Money.pl described the fleet as chartering boats with crew, operating mainly around Majorca, Ibiza and Formentera in summer. According to the price list cited by Money.pl, a weekly charter costs between 78,000 and 95,000 euros, depending on the season. Sunreef's statement said the vessel will offer guests exclusive experiences at sea from the Balearic base.
Sunreef Yachts and its sports clients
Sunreef Yachts began operating in 2002 on the site of the former Gdańsk Shipyard, founded by French entrepreneur Francis Lapp with help from local shipbuilding specialists. In 2003 the shipyard launched the Sunreef 74, which Money.pl describes as the first full-ocean luxury catamaran with a flybridge. Production now takes place in Gdańsk and in Ras Al Khaimah. Lapp said the company was proud to welcome Messi and his family to the Sunreef world. Robert Lewandowski became a Sunreef ambassador in January 2026 and ordered an 80 Sunreef Power NEXT, while Fernando Alonso has been an ambassador since 2021. Rafael Nadal received an 80 Sunreef Power in 2020, which media reports say cost about 5 million euros.
