Bremen double homicide: Police hunt 22-year-old neighbour after married couple found stabbed
A 40-year-old man and his 35-year-old wife were found dead in Vegesack, northern Bremen, on Friday. Police are now publicly searching for a 22-year-old neighbour who lived in the same building.
The crime
On Friday, 26 June 2026, around midday, residents in Bremen's northern Vegesack district heard a man screaming. They found him severely injured on the street. Emergency services determined he had sustained fatal stab and cut wounds. Despite resuscitation efforts, the 40-year-old died at the scene. Shortly afterward, the body of his 35-year-old wife was discovered in the cellar of their apartment building. Police believe both died as a result of violence.
Suspect identified
On Saturday evening, Bremen police and the public prosecutor's office launched a public manhunt for a 22-year-old neighbour, Brandon Sami Caglar. He is suspected of murdering the couple. Caglar is described as approximately 1.80 metres tall with short brown hair, last seen wearing a camouflage jacket. According to Bild, he lived in the same multi-family house and was already known to police. In April, he was allegedly involved in an incident with an air-pressure weapon and threatened officers with a knife.
Manhunt and warning
Police are appealing for information on Caglar's whereabouts. A statement from the authorities urges the public not to approach him.
Witnesses should not approach the suspect; he is considered violent and dangerous.
