Madrid reopens lanes on Calle Alcala and Puente de Vallecas as roadworks advance
Madrid City Council has announced the reopening of two lanes on Calle de Alcala and four southbound lanes on the Puente de Vallecas as municipal infrastructure projects advance across the capital.
Madrid City Council announced that municipal mobility and infrastructure works across the city are advancing, allowing authorities to reopen lanes and progressively reduce traffic closures. Starting Monday, two lanes are set to reopen on Calle de Alcala, while all four southbound lanes on the Puente de Vallecas will return to full circulation.
Around Paseo de la Castellana, the municipality has established detour routes to ease transit toward the M-607, A-1, and M-11 motorways. Drivers traveling from Cuzco toward the M-607 can navigate via Sor Angela de la Cruz and Valle de Mena to Avenida de la Ilustracion, while traffic from Plaza de Castilla can use Avenida de Asturias and Ginzo de Limia. Motorists heading toward the A-1 and M-11 are directed from Cuzco via Alberto Alcocer and Costa Rica, or from Plaza de Castilla through Mateo Inurria, Caidos de la Division Azul, Cuesta del Sagrado Corazon, or Pio XII. Southbound M-30 drivers may use the Pio XII tunnel exit or take surface detours through Alberto Alcocer toward Cuzco.
Work has also moved forward on the Parque Ventas project over the M-30 ring road. The primary phase of construction, designed to cover the motorway and build a 16,370-square-metre public green area between the Salamanca and Ciudad Lineal districts, is finished. Daytime traffic restrictions on the section ended in November, leaving only occasional night-time lane closures. Installation of vertical gardens on the Puente de Ventas by Madrid Calle 30 will continue to require night-time closures on service roads, extending until 11:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.
