Madrid's Hispanidad 2026 closes with free concerts by Sebastián Yatra and Marta Sánchez through Monday
Plaza de España, Plaza Mayor and the Madrid Río esplanade host free performances from Friday 9 October until the Fiesta Nacional de España holiday on Monday 12 October. Ten concerts originally planned for Puerta del Sol are moving to Madrid Río because a housing protest camp remains there.
Final weekend line-up
Hispanidad 2026 runs from 2 to 12 October and enters its last weekend this Friday, 9 October. The festival is organised by the Comunidad de Madrid, and El País reports that it is in its sixth edition, with more than 200 activities and artists from more than 20 countries performing for free. The guest country this year is the United States, which is celebrating 250 years of independence. The festival runs under the motto 'Todos los acentos del español caben en Madrid'.
The weekend's concerts are spread across three stages. Plaza de España and Plaza Mayor remain the main venues, while the multipurpose esplanade at Madrid Río takes on a larger role this year. Acts on the Plaza de España stage include La Santa Cecilia, Aterciopelados, Nat Simons, Sebastián Yatra, Marta Sánchez, Tipa Tipo, Los Cumbia Stars and Carlos Baute.
Relocation from Puerta del Sol
The programme change affects ten concerts and three dance conservatory performances that were originally planned for the Puerta del Sol. Europa Press reports that they moved to Madrid Río because the housing protest camp (acampada por la vivienda) continues at Puerta del Sol. According to 20 minutos, the regional government chose to change the location, and the performances keep their scheduled times. The Madrid Río esplanade will host acts across all three days of the final weekend.
