Love Island USA removes Alannah Keyser after video of her using racial slur surfaces

The incident

Alannah Keyser, a 21-year-old film student at the University of Southern California, entered the Love Island USA villa on Sunday as part of the Casa Amor twist. Within hours, viewers circulated a 10-second video of her lip-syncing to Roddy Ricch's "The Box," in which she uses the n-word. Screenshots of an Instagram comment and a Snap message containing the same slur also spread online. The posts had been on private accounts and were not publicly accessible during Peacock's vetting process.

Show's response

After the video emerged, Keyser's screen time was heavily reduced. She was largely edited out of Tuesday's episode. On Thursday night, narrator Iain Stirling confirmed her exit with a brief announcement.

A recurring pattern

Keyser is the second Season 8 contestant removed for a racial slur. Vasana Montgomery was axed before the season premiered after videos of her using the n-word resurfaced; she never appeared on air. Last season, Yulissa Escobar was dropped in the second episode for a slur against Black people, and Cierra Ortega was ejected weeks later for a slur against Asian people. Ortega later said fans had called Immigration and Customs Enforcement on her family. Across the past two years, five cast members have been involved in slur-related scandals.

Villa fallout

Keyser had built a connection with Zach Georgiou in Casa Amor, and many fans expected him to bring her back to the main villa. Her romance triggered drama when Kayda received a postcard showing the two getting cozy. The recoupling episode airs Friday, June 26.
