Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain reached an outline agreement for the transfer of French international winger Bradley Barcola following negotiations in Monaco around the Champions League draw. The deal is structured as an upfront fee of just over £100 million with performance-related add-ons that could lift the overall package to £120 million (between €135 million and €140 million). PSG originally sought up to €170 million (£145 million) before lowering their valuation. Barcola, who joined PSG from Olympique Lyon for €45 million in 2023 and has won three Ligue 1 titles and two Champions League trophies, had informed the French champions that he would not extend his contract beyond 2028. The 23-year-old forward agreed personal terms on a long-term contract several weeks ago, leaving final payment terms, medical examinations, and paperwork to complete the move.

Iraola outlines transfer priorities
At a press conference ahead of Saturday's Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest at Anfield, Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola addressed the club's push for late attacking signings. Iraola stated that strengthening wide areas remains the club's principal focus before the transfer window closes on Tuesday, following Mohamed Salah's summer departure to Trabzonspor. While the manager declined to speak directly about unsigned players, he acknowledged that Liverpool currently lack sufficient depth in wide attacking roles.

Palace rejected the proposal and remain hesitant to part with the 28-year-old Senegal international without securing a replacement, though Sarr missed Palace's opening match and has drawn interest from Galatasaray. Palace head coach Pierre Sage commented on the uncertainty surrounding the player.

Iraola noted that nothing can be guaranteed while the market remains open, praising Gakpo's form since the World Cup. Liverpool have also completed deals for Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz, and Ronald Araujo this summer, while selling midfielder Curtis Jones to Inter following a 2-2 draw with Newcastle United. PSG have also seen departures including Goncalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani, Kang-in Lee, and Noham Kamara.
