
Lightning strike at Swedish amusement park injures several, one seriously

A thunderstorm at the Tosselilla Sommarland amusement park in Skåne, southern Sweden, triggered multiple lightning strikes on Sunday, one of which struck a tree near a group of visitors, sending branches and debris onto them. Local health authorities and park officials confirmed several injuries, including one person in serious condition.
Storm and park preparations
The Swedish meteorological institute had issued warnings on Sunday morning for storms and heavy rainfall across much of southern Sweden. According to public broadcaster SVT, the park anticipated the storm and had cleared all visitors from pools and water park facilities before the lightning occurred.
Today, we had a violent storm over Tosselilla, which caused several lightning strikes directly on the site. As a result, several people were injured.
Injuries and response
Despite the precautions, lightning hit a tree as a group of people was passing by. A 45-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Two other people were transported by ambulance, while two adults and five children received medical care on the spot. The Skåne region later reported that all those treated at the scene had minor injuries.
All of them suffered minor injuries.
