Lens end PSG's Super Cup dominance
Lens defeated Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 at Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Sunday to win the French Super Cup for the first time in the club's history. The victory ended PSG's run of four consecutive Super Cup titles, a streak that had made the Parisian club the competition's most decorated participant with 14 trophies overall. Lens, who qualified as Cup winners and second-placed finishers in the 2025/2026 season, were coached by Dino Topmoller.
The match was played at Lens's home ground in northern France, giving the hosts a familiar setting for the occasion. PSG, the defending French league champions, had dominated the early stages but failed to find the net in the opening 30 minutes.
Thauvin strikes and Lens go a man down
Florian Thauvin scored the only goal of the match at 32 minutes, with Matthieu Udol providing the assist. The French forward's strike gave Lens a lead they would hold for the remainder of the contest despite mounting adversity.
Seven minutes later, Lens defender Kyllian Antonio was shown a straight red card at 39 minutes for a hard foul on PSG forward Maghnes Akliouche. The dismissal left Lens with 10 players for the entire second half, forcing a defensive rearguard action against a PSG side that piled forward in search of an equaliser.
PSG fail to convert dominance
Despite playing against 10 men for most of the second half, PSG could not break through. The Parisian club held 69% of possession and registered 22 shots, of which 6 were on target. Lens managed just 31% of possession and 8 shots, with only 2 testing the goalkeeper.

The match ended with both sides reduced to 10 men after Nuno Mendes was sent off at 87 minutes. The Portuguese international, who had come off the bench in the second half, was shown a straight red card for elbowing Lens's Polish player Michal Skoras in the face.
