Legia Warszawa moves to 2-1 in Polish finals after 79-63 road win, Zastal held to season-low 63 points
Defending champions Legia Warszawa took a 2-1 series lead in the ORLEN Basket Liga finals with a dominant 79-63 away victory over Orlen Zastal Zielona Góra on Friday, holding the hosts to their worst offensive output of the season.
Defensive lockdown in Zielona Góra
Legia Warszawa moved within two wins of retaining the Polish championship with a commanding road performance in Game 3. The visitors held Orlen Zastal Zielona Góra to just 63 points, the team's lowest total in the 2025–2026 season. The 5,000-strong crowd at CRS hall saw their side shoot poorly from the start, managing only 7 points in the first quarter while Legia built an 18-7 lead. Zastal's 25-percent shooting in the opening period and 0-for-1 from three-point range set the tone.
Ponsar's double-double controls the game
Carl Ponsar delivered the standout individual display, finishing with 22 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block. The French forward was efficient throughout and his three-pointer with 2:30 left in the first half pushed the margin to 33:19. He was one of several Legia players who contributed to a deep rotation that Zastal could not match.

Zastal's rally falls short
Despite a brief resurgence late in the second quarter, when Jakub Szumert hit two triples and Jayvon Maughmer added a bucket to trim the deficit to 28:37, the hosts never seriously threatened. Legia responded immediately after the break, with Andrzej Pluta's three-pointer extending the lead back to 14. By the middle of the third period the advantage had ballooned to 51:36, and every Zastal push was met by a Legia answer. The margin peaked at 17 points after Race Thompson's free throws and a triple by Ojars Silins.
Series outlook
Chavaughn Lewis led Zastal with 14 points, while Patrick Cartier and Jayvon Maughmer each added 12 and 13, respectively. The series, a best-of-seven to four wins, now stands 2-1 in Legia's favour. The same two teams meet for Game 4 on Monday, June 15 at 20:15 in Zielona Góra, where Zastal faces a must-win situation to avoid falling behind 3-1.
