Legia Warszawa crush Radomiak Radom 5:0 to go top of PKO Ekstraklasa
Legia Warszawa scored four goals before halftime and beat Radomiak Radom 5:0 on Friday, moving to the top of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa with an unbeaten record of three wins and one draw.
First-half avalanche
Legia Warszawa needed only seven minutes to open the scoring against Radomiak Radom in Friday's PKO BP Ekstraklasa fixture at the Łazienkowska stadium. Debutant Michal Sevcik, who turned 24 the day before, received the ball from Paweł Wszołek after the winger intercepted a poor clearance from Radomiak goalkeeper Bartłomiej Gradecki. The Czech set himself on the edge of the box and placed a low finish into the corner. Papszun had surprised observers by leaving summer signing Jan Kuchta on the bench, opting instead for Sevcik from the start. Three minutes later the lead doubled: Ruben Vinagre delivered a free kick from the left, Łukasz Zjawiński headed goalward, Gradecki parried, and Rafał Augustyniak tapped in the rebound. The assistant referee initially flagged for offside, but after a VAR review referee Wojciech Myć confirmed the goal.
Radomiak had barely regrouped when the third arrived in the 17th minute. Vinagre raced to the goal line and chipped a soft cross into the penalty area, where Rafał Adamski met it with a precise header to make it 3:0. The tempo slowed briefly after the third, but Legia maintained complete control of possession and territory. Radomiak tried to respond but could not threaten Otto Hindrich's goal for most of the half. In the 44th minute, captain Bartosz Kapustka collected the ball outside the area, beat his marker, and struck into the top-left corner from distance, leaving Gradecki with no chance. Second half
Kaczmarek made no substitutions at halftime, while Papszun replaced Sevcik with Jakub Żewłakow. Five minutes after the restart, Kapustka scored his second and Legia's fifth, again from a similar distance, after receiving from Wszołek. Gradecki got a glove to the shot but could not keep it out. After the fifth goal, Legia eased off and no longer pushed forward with intensity. Kuchta, a summer arrival who had been expected to start, entered in the 56th minute alongside Henrique Arreiol, with Mileta Rajović coming on in the 71st. Radomiak's problems began with the goalkeeper and ran through every formation; the visitors could neither defend nor attack effectively, and looked like a team resigned to its fate. Rafał Wolski offered the lone threat for Radomiak, but his shot was saved by Hindrich. The match finished 5:0 in front of 26,473 spectators. Bartosz Kapustka received a yellow card for Legia, while Zie Ouattara and Adrian Dieguez were booked for Radomiak.

The victory lifted Legia to the top of the Ekstraklasa standings. The Warsaw club remains unbeaten through four rounds, with three wins and one draw. Radomiak became the first side in the current campaign to concede a double-digit total of goals. Legia's dominance over Radomiak at home extends a pattern: two seasons ago the fixture ended 4:1, and last season produced the identical scoreline. Before the match, Kaczmarek had said that although facing Papszun's team would be difficult, their style was predictable. His side could not cope with that predictability on Friday evening, conceding five goals without offering a meaningful response.
