Dawid and Marta Kubacki welcome third child, son Mikołaj, born early
Dawid Kubacki's wife Marta announced on Instagram on July 12 that their third child, a son named Mikołaj, had been born prematurely but in good health, joining sisters Zuzanna (b. 2020) and Maja (b. 2023).
The announcement
On Sunday evening, 12 July 2026, Marta Kubacka posted an emotional message on Instagram revealing the birth of the couple's third child, a son named Mikołaj. The post made clear the baby arrived well ahead of term, but declared him strong and healthy. In April 2026, Marta had teased the pregnancy on Instagram with a post that read:
Two one for the girls... but finally dad won't be alone.
The post was soon deleted, heightening interest. On 12 July, she returned to the platform with the birth news.
Little one named Mikołaj, you came into the world much earlier but you are strong and healthy, that is the most important thing. Grow healthy and gain strength so you can go home as soon as possible, because your sisters are waiting for you impatiently.
Family timeline
The new arrival marks the third chapter for Dawid and Marta, who married on 1 May 2019. Their first daughter, Zuzanna, was born on 29 December 2020, coinciding with the opening day of the 69th Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf; Kubacki learned of the birth after his first training jump. Their second daughter, Maja, arrived in January 2023, just before the final competition of that edition of the tournament. Now Mikołaj, born prematurely, is set to join his sisters.

Reaction from the ski community
The Instagram post drew quick congratulations. Agnieszka Kot, wife of skier Maciej Kot, wrote "Gratulacje, dużo siły dla Was" (Congratulations, lots of strength to you), while other figures from the skiing environment also sent well-wishes. Journalist Damian Michałowski added his congratulations. The warmth reflects the Kubacki family's place within the Polish ski jumping circle.
Context: a difficult season and health concerns
Dawid Kubacki is coming off a difficult competitive year, having scored just 54 points in the 2025/26 World Cup season. After the season he lost two sponsors, BWT and Manner, and Slovenian media outlets speculated that he might retire. Kubacki himself dismissed the talk in an interview with WP SportoweFakty.
There is no such possibility.
The family has also faced serious health scares. Marta Kubacka has a genetic condition that causes dangerous heart rhythm disturbances, which led to a severe hospitalisation in 2023. There has been no indication of complications from the latest pregnancy, and the announcement emphasised that the baby is healthy.
What's next for the skier
The summer ski jumping circuit gets underway in August with the Letnie Grand Prix event in Wisła, at the Adam Małysz hill. While official team selections are still pending, the presence of Kubacki on the start list remains a possibility. For now, however, the personal joy of a new son overshadows the winter's disappointments.
