Keegan Allen robbed at gunpoint outside West Hollywood grocery, posts bloodied video
Two masked men struck the Pretty Little Liars actor in the head and took his watch in a Thursday evening attack outside Laurel Supply. Allen then posted footage of himself covered in blood and criticized Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom.
The attack
Keegan Allen, 37, was robbed on Thursday evening, 8 October, after shopping at Laurel Supply, a high-end grocery store in West Hollywood. Two masked men approached him while he was loading items into his pickup truck in the store's parking lot, according to La Razón and 7sur7. One of them carried a knife and the other a gun, and they demanded his watch. Super Express reported that the suspects took the watch and fled, and that store employees ran out to help him.
A statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, cited by Le Figaro, described a silver pistol and a knife and said the suspects demanded the watch and a bracelet. LaVanguardia reported that only the watch was taken, and that a bracelet and a ring stayed with him. Security camera footage shows one of the men striking Allen repeatedly on the head with the gun, according to 7sur7 and Variety. In the video he posted, Allen described the attack in these words:
These two dudes hit me in the head and pointed a gun at me with a knife and then took off,
Video and injuries
Allen posted a graphic video on Instagram showing his face covered in blood. In the caption he wrote:
West Hollywood is not safe anymore. Robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint by two young men that threatened to KILL me over my watch and would have!
Allen wrote that he would post more updates soon. La Razón reported that he went to hospital to rule out a concussion and that his injuries were not fatally serious, while LaVanguardia reported that he described himself as shaken. 7sur7 reported that he wrote on Instagram that he was doing fine despite the circumstances.
Criticism of city and state leaders
In the post, Allen named Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom, saying he hoped the surveillance cameras they believe will stop crime could find the attackers. Variety noted that West Hollywood has a high number of Flock cameras for its size, and that Bass is mayor of Los Angeles, which is a separate city. Super Express described his remarks as sarcastic toward the officials' claims that expanded camera monitoring reduces crime. La Razón reported that the post reopened the political debate over public safety in California, including the effectiveness of video surveillance against crime.
Career background
Allen played Toby Cavanaugh in Pretty Little Liars from 2010 to 2017 and Liam Walker in Walker from 2021 to 2024, according to Variety. He most recently starred in the ABC police drama The Rookie earlier this year. LaVanguardia reported that he has more than 8 million followers on social media and has also appeared in King Cobra and Palo Alto.
