Police officers acting on orders from the District Prosecutor's Office in Płock searched a residence in Mława on the evening of 22 September 2026. During the intervention, police detained 47-year-old Katarzyna G., the mother of Bartosz G., who stands accused of the murder of 16-year-old Maja K. in April 2025. Officers arrived in six patrol vehicles accompanied by an ambulance after the woman barricaded herself inside the residence and injured a police officer before being removed in pyjamas.

Bartosz Maliszewski, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor's Office in Płock, confirmed that the search order targeted property and records, describing the immediate physical detention as a related circumstance during the operation.

A search and seizure order was issued. However, the detention of the woman was not connected to that search, nor did it occur on the order of the prosecutor's office. It is a secondary circumstance, one could say.

Broadcast allegations of contract murder

The police operation followed a broadcast by television network Polsat News on 21 September 2026. In the report by journalist Leszek Dawidowicz, a Pakistani national identified as Omar stated that Katarzyna G. attempted to contract him to kill three individuals connected to the criminal case against her son. Omar had previously stayed with Bartosz G. at a juvenile facility in Greece before traveling to Poland, where he lived for a period at Katarzyna G.'s residence.

According to the account broadcast in the report, Katarzyna G. approached Omar following a Greek court decision approving Bartosz G.'s extradition to Poland. She allegedly provided Omar with photographs and location details for the targets, which included Maja K.'s father, Jarosław Kowalski, and the family's legal representative, Wojciech Kasprzyk. The identity of the third intended target has not been publicly released by authorities.

Dispute over dismissed threat investigations

The detention follows months of legal friction between Katarzyna G. and the family of the murdered teenager. On 5 January 2026, a court convicted Katarzyna G. of persistent harassment and defamation of Maja K.'s family, ordering her to pay 150,000 PLN in damages alongside public apologies and court costs. Despite the ruling, further social media posts prompted new legal complaints regarding stalking and criminal threats.

In June 2026, audio recordings emerged featuring a woman identified as Katarzyna G. stating that individuals working to convict her son would pay with their lives. The prosecutor's office discontinued the investigation into those threats on 18 September 2026, concluding that the recorded statement lacked evidence of intent to deliver the threat directly to the victim. Following that closure, Jarosław Kowalski and Kasprzyk held a press conference outside the Ministry of Justice on 21 September 2026, meeting with Justice Minister and Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek to demand renewed oversight.

Legal steps and protection requests

Following the arrest on 22 September 2026, attorney Wojciech Kasprzyk provided testimony to investigators under legal assistance procedures in Bolesławiec and formally requested police protection for himself.

This woman's actions grew in intensity. First there was stalking, then death threats appeared, and in the end an attempt to hire a hitman. I hope that this woman will not be released.

Kasprzyk stated that the initial dismissal of the threat probe occurred despite existing audio recordings. Law enforcement authorities in Radom and Płock continue to review the seized electronic records and witness testimonies to assess charges regarding incitement to homicide.
