Engagement announcement
FBI Director Kash Patel and country singer Alexis Wilkins announced their engagement on social media on 4 October 2026. Wilkins, 27, posted a black-and-white photograph alongside Patel, 46, displaying her engagement ring to the camera. Patel shared the announcement on his own account on X with heart and ring emojis. The couple shared the news after more than three years together.
Wilkins captioned the post with a reference to Patel's law enforcement position.
Went and got the law involved.
Origins of the relationship
The couple first met in the fall of 2022 at a gathering in Nashville, Tennessee, held at the home of country musician John Rich. The party marked the release of Rich's song "Progress" on Donald Trump's Truth Social platform, where Patel worked as a consultant. Patel, who served as an aide during Trump's first presidential term, also published children's books and sold branded merchandise at the time. A publicist brought Wilkins to the event, where Patel complimented her jacket, leading them to begin dating in early 2023.
Wilkins later discussed their 19-year age gap and first impression during a July 2025 interview on The Megyn Kelly Show.
I just liked that he was so honest. His character is incredible, his values are incredible.

Career paths and public appearances
Wilkins, the daughter of a Gillette executive and an aerospace financial specialist, grew up between the United States and Europe. She lived in Windsor, England, and attended boarding school near Geneva before moving to Arkansas and later Nashville, where she graduated from Belmont University after studying business and political science. She began writing songs at age nine with a guitar inherited from her great-grandfather, while also working as a child actor in episodes of Modern Family in 2009, Dog with a Blog, Instant Mom, and the 2011 film Jack and Jill. In 2023, she released her debut country EP Grit, which reached twelfth place on the iTunes country album chart. Wilkins later performed at Donald Trump's Great American State Fair on the National Mall as part of the America 250 celebration.
Scrutiny over federal resources
The relationship drew public visibility following Patel's appointment as FBI director in February 2025, when Wilkins sat in the Senate gallery during his confirmation hearings and attended his swearing-in ceremony. Patel faced scrutiny regarding the deployment of bureau assets for her security and transportation. FBI tactical agents accompanied Wilkins to a resort in Britain ahead of a dinner at Windsor Castle, escorted her to a Nashville hair salon, and stood guard in two SUVs outside a senior center in Dixon, Illinois, during a concert for young conservatives. In January, agents also escorted her 200 kilometres to a California airport following a charity event.
Government travel records further documented Patel using FBI aircraft for non-official travel, such as flying to State College, Pennsylvania, to watch Wilkins sing at a professional wrestling match. A four-person SWAT team and two vehicles were assigned to Nashville to provide security for her residence. In July, White House officials called Patel back to Washington while his aircraft sat on the tarmac for a planned trip to Chicago, where Wilkins was scheduled to perform.
