Harry Kane reaches agreement in principle on Bayern Munich deal until 2029
Harry Kane has agreed in principle to extend his Bayern Munich contract until 2029, with the paperwork still being finalised. Reports say the signing could come before the Ballon d'Or gala on 26 October.
Agreement in principle
Harry Kane has agreed in principle to extend his contract with Bayern Munich until 2029, according to Sky Sports and several German outlets. The 33-year-old is in the final year of his current deal, which runs out next summer. Bild football editor Christian Falk wrote that Bayern and Kane's side had agreed a term running to 2029, after the length of the deal had been the central question. Some details are still open, including revenue from image rights and "other small things", but Falk said these would not derail the talks.
Falk said he had heard from the club that the plan is to sign before the gala.
I have heard from the club that the plan is to sign the contract before the Ballon d'Or gala.
Why Kane is staying
Sky Sports, cited by German and English outlets, attributes the decision to the working conditions at the club and the family's affection for Bavaria. Kane's wife and four children have settled into life in Munich, according to English media, and want to stay there for several more years. Kane's interests are handled by his father and brother, and the talks also cover his future salary as one of the club's top earners. Bayern president Herbert Hainer had earlier said he was "very optimistic" and described the talks as going "excellently".
A record spell in Bavaria
Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in summer 2023 for a fee of around 100 million euros, according to N-tv. Since then he has scored 154 goals in 156 games in all competitions, with 37 assists, according to N-tv, while Deutsche Welle gives a count of 153 goals in 156 matches. He has scored 101 Bundesliga goals, won the Bundesliga top scorer award three times in a row, and has scored in each of his last nine Champions League matches. N-tv counts five trophies with Bayern, while Deutsche Welle lists two Bundesliga titles and one German Cup.

What comes next
Kane told LBC that he is happy at the club.
Everyone can see I am happy there, the way I'm performing, the way I talk off the pitch.
The Ballon d'Or gala takes place on 26 October, and Deutsche Welle lists Kane among the favourites after his 2025-2026 season as the best European goalscorer. Falk said official news should follow this month. Bild had reported earlier that the contract should be signed within the next ten days.
