Polish doctor scandal widens: Dawid Kacprzyk also employed in Częstochowa hospital before €1.6M year
The scandal surrounding former Civic Coalition councilor Dawid Kacprzyk deepened on 8 July 2026 as the Wojewódzki Szpital Specjalistyczny in Częstochowa confirmed his prior employment there, adding a new layer to the controversy over his 1.6 million PLN earnings at Warsaw’s Szpital Południowy.
Częstochowa employment
Dawid Kacprzyk was employed at the Wojewódzki Szpital Specjalistyczny im. Najświętszej Maryi Panny in Częstochowa from 10 December 2024 to 31 January 2025, where he underwent specialization training in anesthesiology and intensive care. The hospital’s spokesperson, Angelika Kawecka, confirmed that Kacprzyk worked in a non‑resident training mode (tryb pozarezydencki), filling one of 18 training slots, with seven others held by residents.
Dawid Kacprzyk was employed at WSzS in Częstochowa from 10 December 2024 to 31 January 2025 for the purpose of undergoing specialization training in anaesthesiology and intensive therapy.
His salary complied with the statutory minimum for medical personnel, set at 8,515.02 PLN gross per month (proportionally for December and full January), as stipulated by the Act of 8 June 2017. The contract ended by mutual agreement at Kacprzyk’s own request.
Rapid transfer to Warsaw
Documents show that Kacprzyk moved swiftly. On 7 January 2025 he applied to the Mazowiecki Voivode to change his specialization site, already holding the written approvals of the CEO and Medical Director of Warsaw’s Szpital Południowy as well as the provincial consultant in anesthesiology. On 23 January the voivode’s health department issued the decision, and his Częstochowa employment ceased one week later. Law and Justice MP Łukasz Kmita, who conducted a parliamentary inquiry, argued that the transfer required coordinated assistance from both hospital managements and the Mazowiecki Urząd Wojewódzki.
He transferred in the non‑resident mode (when the hospital pays the doctor). The ministry’s reply to our intervention shows how many people were involved in helping Dawid.
Earnings and the Szpital Południowy affair
Kacprzyk subsequently became coordinator of the emergency department at Szpital Południowy in Warsaw. According to the investigative outlet Kanał Zero, he earned 1.6 million PLN in 2025 while still in specialization training, a sum that many commentators have called extraordinary for a doctor with 18 months’ experience. Reports also alleged that KO politicians were given preferential treatment in the emergency department, with complete exams performed almost immediately after registration.
At this stage of one’s career, Dawid Kacprzyk’s earnings are unattainable without political backing. At this age most of us are on residency programmes.
Audits and political fallout
The scandal has triggered multiple investigations. The Silesian Marshal’s Office is auditing the employment of residents at the Częstochowa hospital, while an internal review is underway by the hospital’s management. In Warsaw, the affair led to the resignation of Szpital Południowy’s management and supervisory board, as well as the departure of two deputy mayors of Warsaw.
There is no consent for exploiting legal loopholes for personal gain. In healthcare, what matters is the other person—the patient, their well‑being, health and life.
