Juventus opens Serie A campaign with away victory at Frosinone
Juventus commenced the 2026/27 Serie A season on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 away victory against newly promoted Frosinone. Operating under manager Luciano Spalletti, the Turin club assumed control of possession from the outset. Brazilian central defender Bremer created an initial warning with an early header before breaking the deadlock in the first half. The decisive goal arrived in the 22nd minute (recorded as the 23rd minute in some reports). Following a short corner sequence initiated on the right flank by Douglas Luiz, the ball was laid off to Portuguese winger Francisco Conceição. Conceição delivered an accurate cross into the penalty area, allowing Bremer to anticipate the Frosinone goalkeeper and head the ball into the net. In celebration of the goal, Bremer symbolically wiped Conceição's boot.
Second-half pressure and defensive resilience
Frosinone attempted to respond before the halftime interval, creating their most dangerous opportunity of the first 45 minutes in the 40th minute when a strike from Bracaglia tested Juventus goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. In the second half, Conceição came close to extending the visitors' lead, but his effort missed the target. Spalletti withdrew Conceição in the 69th minute, leaving Juventus without the Portuguese winger for the remainder of the contest. As the second half progressed, the home side generated sustained attacking pressure in search of an equalizer. In the third minute of stoppage time (90+3), Frosinone nearly levelled the match when defender Gabriele Calvani directed a header onto the crossbar. Speaking after the final whistle, Conceição evaluated the performance and highlighted missed chances.
It was good to start with a win. However, we need to improve. The game was on our side and we could have scored three or four goals.
