Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tie the knot at Madison Square Garden in a star-studded ceremony

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were married on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Madison Square Garden in New York City, in a ceremony that blended pop culture and sports royalty. The event, kept under wraps until the last moment, drew about 1,000 guests and a massive security operation, with the National Guard and over 1,000 police officers deployed around the arena.

The ceremony

The wedding was officiated by actor and comedian Adam Sandler, a longtime friend of the couple. Swift's brother Austin served as her best man, while Kelce's brother Jason, a former NFL player, stood by the groom. The couple opted for no bridesmaids or additional groomsmen. After the vows, giant screens outside the arena lit up with the message "Just&T Married," and the Empire State Building glowed in matching colors.

The looks chosen by the couple for the wedding ceremony were by Christian Dior Haute Couture. They were designed by Jonathan Anderson, creative director of the house's men's, women's and haute couture collections, in close collaboration with the bride and groom. This is the designer's first haute couture wedding dress for a global celebrity. The shoes were by Christian Louboutin, and the bride wore Cartier jewelry.

Fashion and details

The bride and groom wore custom Dior creations, with Swift's gown marking Jonathan Anderson's first haute couture wedding dress for a world-famous celebrity. Her accessories included Cartier jewelry and Christian Louboutin shoes, a designer she has worn extensively during her Eras Tour. The rehearsal dinner the night before took place at the Infosys theater inside MSG, attended by close family and friends.

Guest list and security

Among the celebrity guests were Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Ed Sheeran, Hugh Grant, Ethan Hawke, Zoë Kravitz, Jimmy Fallon, Tommy Hilfiger, and many others. Swift's frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff, childhood friend Abigail Anderson, and publicist Tree Paine were also present. Stevie Nicks, whom Swift has called a mentor, attended. Noticeably absent were Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, reportedly at their daughter's horse riding event amid rumors of a rift. Security was extremely tight: phones were banned, roads were closed, and fans gathered at a distance, watching on giant screens set up for the occasion.

A cultural phenomenon

The wedding has been compared to a royal event, with analysts noting the public's emotional investment in the couple's relationship, which unfolded publicly from friendship bracelets at Chiefs games to Kelce's appearances on the Eras Tour. The choice of Madison Square Garden, a venue that symbolizes both music and sports, was seen as a deliberate merging of their worlds.

I'm very excited. She's adorable. She's really the girl next door.

Criticism and context

The spectacle drew some criticism, with commentators pointing out that New York is increasingly becoming a playground for the ultra-wealthy while ordinary residents are pushed out. The wedding also coincided with the US Independence Day weekend, marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence, but the city's attention was firmly on the celebrity couple.
