Pogoń Szczecin has finalized the transfer of Spanish striker Jordi Sánchez from Wisła Kraków after triggering the release clause in his contract. The 31-year-old forward moves between Ekstraklasa clubs after scoring six goals and providing one assist in seven league appearances during the opening weeks of the season. According to reports from Radio Szczecin and TVN24, the contractual release clause was set at 250,000 euro, with the total expenditure reaching approximately 400,000 euro once solidarity mechanism contributions and supplementary costs are factored in, though Radio Kraków reported the buyout fee at approximately 300,000 euro. Pogoń president Alex Haditaghi declared the required amount to secure the mandatory release from Kraków. Sánchez arrived in Szczecin on Monday, 7 September 2026, completing formalities and watching Pogoń's fixture against Wisła Płock from the stadium stands.

Disagreements over negotiation process

Wisła Kraków president and owner Jarosław Królewski publicly addressed the transfer on platform X on Monday, explaining that the club attempted to retain Sánchez but could not prevent the departure once the clause was activated. Królewski stated that Wisła management was only notified of Pogoń's concrete proposal on Sunday, 6 September 2026, through the player's representative. Officials at the Kraków club expressed concerns regarding the negotiation process, pointing out that Polish Football Association (PZPN) and FIFA rules mandate that a player's current club must be informed before individual contract terms are settled.
