Jagiellonia Białystok beats Śląsk Wrocław 2-1 after first-half goals from Szmyt and Sow
Jagiellonia Białystok secured a 2-1 home victory over newly promoted Śląsk Wrocław on Sunday evening, moving past their recent league defeat to Lech Poznań.
First-half offensive control
The match kicked off at 20:15 at Chorten Arena in Białystok for the seventh round of the Ekstraklasa campaign. Before the opening whistle, Adrian Siemieniec's squad occupied seventh place in the league table, while Śląsk Wrocław held 14th position. Jagiellonia entered the contest seeking recovery after a 2-1 defeat against Lech Poznań in a rescheduled fifth-round fixture. Śląsk created the first scoring opportunity in the second minute when Marc Llinares struck an 18-meter shot just over the crossbar. Jagiellonia responded in the 19th minute through a rapid counter-attack set up by a long pass from Sergio Lozano. Sow doubles the advantage
Jagiellonia continued to threaten the visitors immediately after taking the lead, though Nik Prelec could not direct a cross from Ousmane Sow into the net. Wrocław fightback and late penalty
Śląsk manager Ante Simundza altered his lineup at the interval, introducing Karol Linetty and Luka Marjanac in an attempt to spark offensive production. Jagiellonia focused on defensive structure and ball retention throughout the opening stages of the second half, limiting Wrocław to sporadic efforts. Siemieniec made tactical changes of his own, replacing Sow with Rodrigo Conceicao in the 51st minute and sending on Bartłomiej Wdowik for Cezary Polak in the 70th minute. Wrocław midfielder Jorge Yriarte missed the target with a long-range strike in the 74th minute as the hosts slowed the match tempo.

The dynamic shifted in the 81st minute when defender Guilherme Montoia collided with Yehor Matsenko inside the penalty box as Matsenko attempted to control a pass from Linetty. Following a video assistant referee review, the referee awarded a penalty kick to Śląsk. Samiec-Talar converted from the spot to reduce Jagiellonia's lead to 2-1.
Defensive stand in final minutes
The goal set up a tense conclusion as Śląsk committed players forward in search of an equalizer.
