Five Italians in Wimbledon Day 4 action: Berrettini headlines Centre Court, Cobolli and Paolini follow
Matteo Berrettini, Flavio Cobolli, Lorenzo Sonego, Jasmine Paolini and Tyra Grant represent Italy in the second round on Thursday, with four singles matches scheduled across the All England Club.
Italian presence on Day 4
After Jannik Sinner’s straight‑sets win over Nuno Borges on Wednesday, five more Italians take the court on Thursday 2 July for the second round of Wimbledon 2026. The draws include three men and two women, with matches spread from noon to late afternoon.
- Sonego vs Diallo (Court 14) and Grant vs Bouzkova (Court 16) begin at noon.
- Berrettini vs Fils as second match on Centre Court (programme starts 14:30).
- Cobolli vs Duckworth as third match on Court 3 (programme started at noon).
- Paolini vs Golubic not before 16:30 as fourth match on Court 2.
Berrettini vs Fils on Centre Court
Matteo Berrettini faces Frenchman Arthur Fils as the second match on Centre Court, following the 14:30 start of play with Pliskova vs Swiatek. It is a rematch of their only previous meeting, at the 2024 ATP Tokyo tournament, where Fils won after Berrettini retired following the first set. Berrettini advanced to this round by defeating Stan Wawrinka in what was described as an emotional farewell for the Swiss legend.
Cobolli and Sonego in the men’s draw
Flavio Cobolli plays Australian James Duckworth as the third match on Court 3, after a programme starting at noon. The head‑to‑head stands at one win each: Cobolli won their US Open 2024 first‑round clash, while Duckworth prevailed in the Almaty quarter‑finals last year. Lorenzo Sonego opens his day at noon on Court 14 against Canadian Gabriel Diallo, having beaten Etcheverry in the first round.
Paolini and Grant in the women’s draw
Jasmine Paolini, seeded 13th, takes on Swiss Viktorija Golubic as the fourth match on Court 2, not before 16:30. Paolini recovered from a 6‑0 first set to win her opener in three. Eighteen‑year‑old Tyra Grant begins at noon on Court 16 against Czech Marie Bouzkova.
How to watch
All matches are broadcast live in Italy on Sky Sport and streamed on Sky Go and NOW.
