PKP Intercity to run 600 trains a day from 13 December under new timetable
From 13 December PKP Intercity will run 600 trains a day, rising to 622 in the summer period, with Warsaw and the Tricity served every half hour, minister Dariusz Klimczak announced on Monday, 12 October 2026.
Timetable change from 13 December
Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak announced the new PKP Intercity timetable on Monday, 12 October 2026. It takes effect on 13 December 2026 and will see the operator run 600 trains a day, compared with 530 connections under the current timetable. During the summer holiday period that number is due to rise to 622, according to PKP Intercity president Janusz Malinowski. Klimczak said the timetable will bring more frequent departures from many towns across the country, with Warsaw to Gdynia, Gdansk and Sopot as his main example. The operator estimates that it carried 89.2 million passengers last year and expects 96 million in 2026.

Half-hourly trains to the Tricity
The Warsaw to Tricity route will see trains every half hour, with only a small exception, according to Malinowski. He said a day trip to Sopot for lunch and back will be possible within a single day. The operator will offer both EIP services, which cost more, and cheaper trains. Warsaw and Kraków will be linked by 32 pairs of trains, 18 of them in economy class. Busy routes will also include Łódź to Warsaw and Bydgoszcz to the Tricity, and these four corridors will carry the most trains. Between Warsaw and Szczecin trains will run every two hours, alternating express and economy services. Presenters said the planned journey times, including 2 hours 18 minutes from Gdańsk to Warszawa Gdańska once renovation of the cross-city line starts, are out of reach for cars, which compete with rail.
Capacity and comparisons
Deputy minister responsible for rail Piotr Malepszak compared the planned offer with German rail services during the presentation. He said the operator will reach about 265 million train-kilometres of operating work in the new timetable. Malepszak put the scale of the plan in context:
We will reach 600 connections a day. We are close to the largest carriers, such as German railways (DB), which run about 800 connections a day.
Timetable office director Krzysztof Krasowski presented the regional details, showing where equal-interval timetabling will be introduced.

Regional services in Opole province
Opole province will also see more services from 13 December, according to board member Robert Węgrzyn. A direct link between Nysa and Wrocław returns, and a direct service from Opole to Głuchołazy will be introduced. More trains are planned on the Kluczbork to Wrocław and Kluczbork to Opole routes. A pilot service from Wrocław via Opole and Kędzierzyn-Koźle to Racibórz will continue after strong interest in the "Malinka" train, and the Rybnik connection, previously run at weekends by the "Ignacy" train, will be extended to weekdays. Węgrzyn said:
We are increasing transport work, increasing the offer, and at the same time lowering costs.
The province spent 173 million zł on regional rail in 2026, and the cost in 2027 is expected to be below 170 million zł while the offer grows by 8%. Work on the Kluczbork to Opole line is complete, with passing loops planned on that section by December 2026, and modernisation of the Opole to Nysa section is due to finish by November 2026.
What comes next
The current timetable, with 530 daily connections, remains in operation until the new one takes effect on 13 December 2026. The operator expects 96 million passengers in 2026, against 89.2 million last year, based on its own estimate. Further investment is planned in 2027, including work around Głuchołazy and the Namysłów to Wołczyn section, according to Węgrzyn.
