Lautaro Martinez brace earns Inter 2-2 draw against Roma at Stadio Olimpico

Roma and Inter shared points in a 2-2 draw at the Stadio Olimpico during matchday 5 of Serie A. The home side opened the scoring in the 6th minute when Paulo Dybala floated a cross into the penalty area, Nahuel Molina headed the ball across, and Manu Kone finished on the volley past goalkeeper Martinez. Roma doubled their lead in the 47th minute as Dybala sent in another cross from the right wing, Gianluca Mancini unintentionally redirected the ball, and Kone sent a shot under the crossbar for his second goal of the match.

Inter responded after the interval when Marcus Thuram delivered a pass from the left flank in the 46th minute of the second half, allowing Lautaro Martinez to score with a soft touch past Mile Svilar. In the 79th minute, Martinez leveled the match. After Svilar saved a Thuram header and Manuel Akanji could not clear, a subsequent cross was touched by Yann Aurel Bisseck to Martinez, who turned and scored.

Before kickoff, both teams observed a minute of silence for former Inter and Italy international Sandro Mazzola, who died at the age of 83. Inter players wore black armbands in his honor as his photo was shown on the stadium screens. In his pre-match press conference, Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini discussed his team's mindset and praised Inter.
