Italian journalist Milo Infante resigns from Rai, with Mediaset move widely expected
The Italian public broadcaster confirmed the departure of the presenter of 'Ore 14' on Wednesday morning, ending weeks of speculation about his future.
The resignation
Milo Infante has formally ended his professional relationship with Rai. The public broadcaster issued a statement on Wednesday confirming it had received his letter of resignation, addressed to the head of personnel that morning. The note thanked Infante for his years of work in Rai's editorial and production structures and wished him well for the continuation of his career.
Rai announces that the professional collaboration with Milo Infante has concluded, following his letter of resignation formalised this morning to the head of personnel.
The Mediaset rumours
For several days, persistent reports across specialist media outlets have pointed to Infante joining Mediaset. The speculation, initially reported by Davide Maggio, suggests he could take on a prime-time programme and a senior role within the commercial broadcaster's news division. As of Wednesday, no official comment had emerged from Mediaset's Cologno Monzese headquarters.
A day of denials
Just one day earlier, Adnkronos had reported that no resignation letter had been submitted by the host of 'Ore 14' and 'Ore 14 Sera'. Infante had also served as deputy director within Rai's in-depth programming directorate since 2022. The rapid shift from denial to formal announcement on Wednesday morning caught the Italian media off guard.
Infante's career path
Born in Milan in 1968, Infante began his career in print journalism during the 1990s, working for 'Corriere della Sera', 'La Notte', and 'Il Giorno'. He later became head of service at 'L'Indipendente' before moving into television at Telelombardia, where he was appointed deputy news director. From 2001 to 2003 he served as editor-in-chief of Antenna 3. He joined Rai in 2003, contributing to programmes on Rai 1 and Rai 2, and most recently found success with the afternoon format 'Ore 14' and its evening edition.
