Rapper Ikkimel's 'Fußballmänner' performance on ZDF morning show leaves studio audience frozen, sparks viral debate
A live performance of the song 'Fußballmänner' by Berlin rapper Ikkimel on Germany's ZDF 'Morgenmagazin' drew motionless stares from the studio crowd and ignited a storm of mockery and criticism online.
The performance
Berlin rapper Ikkimel appeared on the ZDF 'Morgenmagazin' morning show on Monday, 6 July 2026, performing her track 'Fußballmänner' as part of the programme's World Cup segment. Dressed in a short jeans skirt, a crop top, white stilettos and knee-high socks, with a whistle around her neck, she delivered lyrics mixing football clichés with sexual innuendo: 'Fußballmänner, alles Penner. Bierbauch, Bratwurst, leckerschmecker' and 'Lattenkracher, Mertesacker, Tiki-Taka in 'nem Tanga'. She laughed repeatedly during the set, appearing aware of the mismatch with the early-morning audience.
Audience reaction
Camera shots of the studio crowd showed wide eyes, frowns and nervous smiles. No one clapped, swayed or sang along. Several children were present in the 'Moma-Café' and appeared equally bewildered. After the performance, moderator Andreas Wunn addressed male viewers directly:
Dear football men, don't be offended. This is provocation and art and it really hits a nerve with Gen Z.
Social media storm
Clips of the performance spread quickly. Moderator Micky Beisenherz posted on Instagram, calling it 'Hurz 3.0', a reference to comedian Hape Kerkeling's legendary TV prank. ZDF presenter Mitri Sirin shared only a laughing emoji, while colleague Helene Reiner wrote:
Other users on X described the scene as a 'fever dream' and a 'painful action', while some found it hilarious. You can expect something from the ZDF audience, but THIS MUCH???
Artist background
Ikkimel, whose real name is Melina Gaby Strauss, is a 29-year-old Berlin artist known for explicit lyrics about parties, drugs and sex, set to fast techno beats. She polarises sharply: some celebrate her as a feminist voice, others accuse her of vulgar misandry. Her 'Morgenmagazin' slot was introduced by moderators Andreas Wunn and Philip Wortmann, who noted that 'everyone seems to have an opinion' about her.
Closing moment
Ikkimel ended her performance with a grin and the words:
No post-performance interview followed, only muted applause.Thank you MOMA, we're looking forward to the Women's World Cup next year.
