Police in Twin Falls, Idaho, received a call around 2:30 p.m. local time on Saturday about an active shooter inside the dining area of an In-N-Out Burger on Blue Lakes Boulevard. Officers responded and closed roads and a bridge in the area, urging residents to seek alternate routes. Shelter-in-place orders were issued for nearby residents as law enforcement worked to secure the scene. The suspected shooter was later located and is "no longer a threat," city spokesman Josh Palmer said.

Casualties and the shooter
Three people were killed and two others were wounded, according to police and local officials. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed at an evening news conference that the suspected shooter is dead, but said he could not confirm an exact number of fatalities and did not say how the gunman died. Accounts differ on whether the shooter is one of the three: KTVB reported that police had confirmed he was among the dead, while CNN and NBC News said it was not clear whether he was being counted in that figure. The shooter's identity has not been released and the motive is still under investigation. Palmer cautioned that the initial casualty figures are likely to change.

Shelter-in-place orders were lifted later in the afternoon, Palmer said, though the investigation remained active. The events leading up to the shooting were not immediately known, and authorities have not disclosed a possible motive.
