
AEMET forecasts rising temperatures and high clouds across Spain on Thursday
The State Meteorological Agency expects temperatures to rise across the peninsula on 11 June, with highs of 34°C in Madrid and 33°C in Ourense, while light rain may return over the weekend.

Spain will see high clouds across much of the north and centre on Thursday morning, gradually clearing from midday to leave a mostly clear afternoon. Temperatures will rise noticeably compared to Wednesday, with Madrid and the interior bearing the brunt of the heat. The capital is forecast to reach maxima between 16°C and 33°C, while parts of the surrounding region, including Alcalá de Henares and Navalcarnero, could touch 34°C. In the northwest, Ourense expects a sharp increase to 33°C, with light northeast winds, and Lugo climbs to 25°C after yesterday’s 21°C.

On the Cantabrian coast, conditions will be milder and cloudier. Gijón begins the day overcast before turning partly cloudy, with a maximum of 22°C and a minimum of 14°C. A Coruña follows a similar pattern, high clouds until noon then clearing, reaching 25°C. Santiago de Compostela will climb significantly to 29°C, with high clouds only in the morning.
Friday outlook
The mercury continues upward on Friday under generally partly cloudy skies. Ourense could hit 37°C, the highest in the region, while inland Logroño rises to 33°C and León to 31°C. The northern coast remains cooler, with Gijón at 23°C and A Coruña around 30°C. Winds will be light from easterly directions across most of the peninsula.
Weekend forecast
Saturday will bring intervals of cloud to many areas, with the possibility of scattered light rain developing on Sunday, particularly in the northwest. Temperatures stay elevated: Ourense 36°C, Lugo 34°C, Logroño 37°C, and León 33°C. Some coastal spots will see a slight cooling on Sunday, A Coruña dropping to 25°C after a Saturday peak of 30°C. Winds remain light or calm, making for a warm but unsettled end to the week.
