Haftbefehl cancels concerts as brother says rapper is under medical supervision
Brother Cem Anhan says the rapper, 40, is under medical supervision and must focus on his health. Bild reports he was in a Swiss clinic after using up to 30 grams of cocaine, a claim not independently confirmed.
Concerts cancelled on the family's word
On Sunday, 11 October, Cem Anhan, who performs as Capo, posted a video to Haftbefehl's Instagram account addressed to fans. Haftbefehl, whose real name is Aykut Anhan, was due to perform in Düsseldorf and Berlin in October, but the family decided, together with him, to cancel his scheduled concerts. Because the rapper cannot speak to fans himself, his brother spoke for him.
In the video, Cem Anhan said:
He is currently under medical supervision and must concentrate fully on his health.
Cem Anhan, 35 according to Blick, apologised to the fans, acknowledged that many are disappointed and asked them to respect the decision and give his brother the time he needs. When Tagesspiegel checked, the ticketing platform Eventim still listed both concerts.
What Bild reports about early October
Bild reports, citing people close to the rapper, that he complained of feeling unwell in early October after heavy cocaine use. According to the paper, he had consumed up to 30 grams and was in acute danger of his life, so doctors placed him in an induced coma and ventilated him. The clinic is in Switzerland. Watson writes that these details have not been independently confirmed.
A family spokesperson told Bild that he is conscious again and on the road to recovery, and that doctors and his blood values still need to be watched. Blick reports that he is no longer in a coma but remains in the clinic, and that a request to his management was still pending. Reports say his condition has improved somewhat.
A public history of addiction
Haftbefehl has spoken openly about cocaine dependence before. The Netflix documentary Babo - Die Haftbefehl-Story, released in 2025, followed him for several months while his condition worsened, according to Blick. He said he first took cocaine at 13 and had at least one overdose that required resuscitation.
In June he withdrew from public life after several short-notice festival cancellations, citing health problems and the documentary as an extra burden. In February he said in a podcast that he had at times consumed up to 20 grams of cocaine a day. In the RTL+ podcast Nina & Aykut, made with his wife Nina Anhan, he said he had taken 20 grams every day for three years, at a cost of about 15,000 euros a month. He described his use as one gram left, one gram right, every 20 minutes.

Expert view on the reported dose
Addiction researcher Heino Stöver, former director of the Institute for Addiction Research at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, uses 1.5 grams as a reference for a daily cocaine dose. Against that benchmark, he calls the reported 30 grams a murderously high amount. Consumption at that level, he says, leads to circulatory problems, cardiac damage and other physical disorders.
That can lead to death.
Stöver's comments refer to the amount Bild reported, which has not been confirmed by an independent source.

Open questions
The family has not said when the rapper will leave the clinic. Watson reports that it is also open how his music career will continue. The concerts in Düsseldorf and Berlin are cancelled, and the family has asked fans to wait.
