Uninvited hotel guest dies after wedding brawl in Wadowice, seven detained
A 37-year-old hotel guest who crashed a closed wedding party in Wadowice on 15 August died after a fight with wedding guests. Police detained seven people and are investigating the cause of death.
Uninvited guest at wedding
A 37-year-old man who was a registered hotel guest but not a wedding invitee appeared at a closed wedding party at a hotel in Wadowice, Małopolska province, on Saturday, 15 August. According to witness accounts reported by wadowiceonline.pl, the man moved between tables, looked into guests' bags, and tried to take alcohol. Asp. Anna Zbroja-Zagórska from the Małopolska police press team told Polsat News that the man's presence unsettled the wedding guests and that he refused to leave.
He behaved strangely, harassed party participants, tried to take alcohol, was pushy, aggressive, didn't want to leave.
According to Niezalezna.pl and Super Express, the man left the hall after police were called but returned later to the reception area, having changed clothes. He was recognised by wedding guests, and a second altercation broke out that escalated into a physical fight. Wedding guests attempted to remove the man from the venue, and the confrontation ended in a brawl. Gazeta Krakowska described the man as approximately 40 to 50 years old, while most other sources identified him as 37.
Police intervention and collapse
Police arrived at the scene before midnight. Zbroja-Zagórska said the man was also aggressive toward officers and was placed in handcuffs.

At some point after police arrived, the man lost consciousness and suffered cardiac arrest. Police officers began resuscitation immediately, and paramedics from the Medical Rescue Team who arrived at the scene continued the efforts. The man was transported to hospital in critical condition. Polsat News reports that he died after resuscitation by officers and paramedics failed, while Niezalezna.pl and Super Express state he was taken to hospital and died there. The direct cause of death remains unknown at this stage.

Police detained seven wedding guests suspected of involvement in the fight. All were held for questioning, with interviews lasting into the early morning hours. The wedding was interrupted and the hall closed, with all guests, staff, and service personnel identified and questioned. The prosecutor's office is overseeing the investigation, and the prosecutor will decide on the legal classification of the offense and the fate of the detained individuals. No charges have been filed at this stage.
Individuals who took part in the incident have been identified. The case is being investigated, there will also be an autopsy and toxicology tests.
Police secured CCTV footage from the venue, which may help reconstruct the sequence of events. An autopsy and toxicology tests will determine the direct cause of death and whether the beating contributed to the man's death. When asked whether the cardiac arrest could have resulted from the beating, Zbroja-Zagórska said the autopsy and investigation would resolve that question.
