GTA 6 PC release reportedly Q1 2027, unconfirmed by Rockstar
Four anonymous industry sources cited by GamesBeat say Rockstar plans the PC version for January to March 2027, months after the 19 November console launch. Rockstar has not confirmed the date.
The reported PC window
GamesBeat reports that Rockstar Games plans to put GTA 6 on PC in the first quarter of 2027, with the release window running from January to March. The report relies on four industry sources who said they know Rockstar's plans and asked for anonymity, fearing harm to their business relationships. Rockstar has not officially confirmed a PC date, and a company representative did not answer GamesBeat's request for comment before publication. Until Rockstar speaks, the January to March 2027 window rests entirely on that anonymous account. The console version remains scheduled for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the PC window would follow that debut by a few months.
Why the gap could shrink
GTA 5 launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, reached PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014, and arrived on PC only in April 2015, about a year and a half after its debut. Spider's Web calculates that a PC release in early 2027 would mean a wait of roughly two to five months after the console launch, a much shorter gap than before. GamesBeat argues that PC players form a significant audience that Rockstar could reach after the console release. Unofficial estimates put GTA 6's production budget at more than 2 billion dollars, which may make sales on an additional platform important to revenue. Engadget speculates that games due in early 2027 could be delayed to avoid a clash with a PC port.

Online mode and roleplay
Engadget notes that Rockstar has not said when GTA 6 will get the online mode it has kept under wraps. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg that the PC release could come in early 2027 and coincide with a new version of that online mode. He said creators would see a big increase with GTA 6 and an even larger one next year when multiplayer launches. Rockstar acquired the Cfx.re team in August 2023, the developers behind FiveM, a framework for GTA 5 roleplay servers where players take on defined roles. Engadget points out that GTA 5 roleplay mods are PC-only and that Rockstar recently added a GTA 5 roleplaying option to its PC launcher, three years after that acquisition. Engadget suggests the company may hold multiplayer until the PC version of GTA 6 is out.
Rockstar's reassurance on timing
Rob Nelson, co-director of Rockstar North, told the Japanese magazine Famitsu that the game would arrive on schedule, according to La Razón, which reports he answered a question about players' confidence in the release date. La Razón says Nelson stated the game would definitely come out on time. The reassurance follows an extended look at the game, published on Netflix, which showed Vice City, the Leonida environments, vehicles, wildlife and weather systems. That material also gave more detail on protagonists Jason Duval and Lucía Caminos, whose relationship and parts of the story are still only partly explained. La Razón expects the promotion to keep growing in the weeks before launch, as Rockstar could still expand on activities and open-world mechanics.
