Series decider at full house
A championship will be decided at the Peace and Friendship Stadium on Friday evening (18:00 local) when Olympiacos hosts Panathinaikos in Game 5 of the Greek Basket League finals. The series is tied at two wins apiece after an epic double-overtime Game 4 in Athens, where Panathinaikos prevailed 93-86 to force a fifth match. Olympiacos has not lost at home in the domestic league this season, and the 12,000-capacity arena sold out within two hours of tickets becoming available.
How the series unfolded
Each home team defended its court across the first four meetings. Olympiacos opened with an 82-76 victory, Panathinaikos answered 68-58 in Game 2, the Reds reclaimed the lead 102-92 in Game 3, and the Greens forced the decider after the double-overtime thriller. The sequence underlined the razor-thin margin between the two rivals.

Availability questions
Olympiacos enters the match with a clean bill of health, leaving coach Giorgos Bartzokas only the selection puzzle of his six-foreigner quota. Panathinaikos, by contrast, is stretched. Forward Nikos Rogkavopoulos has been ruled out since suffering an injury in Game 3. Guard Kostas Sloukas, who missed three of the first four games, will also sit out. Turkish forward Cedi Osman is a game-time decision after taking part in only a portion of the final practice.

With the stadium full, Olympiacos BC issued a stern appeal to its fans. The club stressed that support must stay within the rules and that the home stands should rely solely on voice.

High-definition cameras supervised by Greek police will monitor the venue and its surroundings. Gates open at 15:30, two and a half hours before tip-off. The refereeing crew will be announced roughly two hours before the game.
The bigger picture
Both clubs have dominated Greek basketball for years and each has won a EuroLeague title in the last three seasons. Olympiacos is the reigning European champion, while Panathinaikos already lifted the Greek Cup this season. Adding the league trophy would complete a double, giving the Greens a quieter hand ahead of the summer roster decisions. For Olympiacos, victory would mean a second major trophy in 2026.
