Greek university applicants face July 16 deadline as 89,032 candidates compete for 68,788 places

The electronic platform for Greece's tertiary education entrance forms will remain open until Thursday, 16 July 2026 at 23:59. Candidates can submit their Machinografiko Deltio (application form) for university admission and, optionally, a Parallel Machinografiko Deltio for public vocational training institutes (formerly IEK). After the deadline passes, no form can be finalized or altered; the preference order of departments becomes locked.

The numbers

A total of 89,032 candidates sat the Panhellenic Exams, competing for 68,788 available tertiary education places for the 2026-27 academic year. The education ministry follows a schedule that places the announcement of admission base scores (bases eisagogis) in the final ten days of July.

Expected score trends

Early estimates indicate that the first and fourth scientific fields (Humanities and Economics & Informatics) are likely to see declining base scores, while the second and third fields (Sciences and Health Sciences) are expected to move upward. No major deviations are anticipated in most other cases.

How the application process works

Candidates use a personal security code obtained earlier to access the portal. They can fill in the form provisionally and revisit it as often as they wish, making changes until they finalize the submission. Those who have not yet obtained a code or have forgotten it can contact their school during scheduled office hours; if an email was registered, the password can be reset via the "Forgot security code" option without visiting the school.

What comes next

Once the deadline passes, the ministry will process the applications and prepare the admission thresholds. The timeline extends from the immediate closure to the release of results in late July.
