Borussia Mönchengladbach loans goalkeeper Tiago Pereira Cardoso to Belgian side RAAL La Louvière
The 20-year-old Luxembourg international moves to the Belgian top flight for the 2026–27 season after five Bundesliga appearances for Gladbach and a pre-season demotion to third-choice.
Loan to La Louvière
Borussia Mönchengladbach has sent goalkeeper Tiago Pereira Cardoso on a season-long loan to Belgian Jupiler Pro League side RAAL La Louvière, the club confirmed on Saturday. The 20-year-old was set to be third choice behind Moritz Nicolas and new signing Daniel Batz for the upcoming campaign, prompting the move for the Luxembourg international.
Player profile
Pereira Cardoso joined Gladbach in 2022 and made five Bundesliga appearances for the senior side. His professional debut came in March 2025 during a 3–0 away win at 1. FC Heidenheim. He has mostly featured for the under-23 team in the fourth-tier Regionalliga West and has earned eight senior caps for Luxembourg.
Development step
Gladbach's sporting director Rouven Schröder described the loan as a logical next move for Pereira Cardoso's career.
Tiago is an established part of the Luxembourg national team and has already demonstrated his Bundesliga quality at a young age. So it's now a logical and important step for him to gain match practice in a strong league for a year.
The club has previously used loans to aid goalkeeper development, Schröder added.
