Germany held to 0-0 draw against Greece in Klopp's fourth match in charge
Germany drew 0-0 against Greece in Thessaloniki after having a first-half goal disallowed, leaving manager Jürgen Klopp with one victory from his first four Nations League matches and keeping the team in third place.
Stalemate in Thessaloniki
Germany concluded their four-match international window with a 0-0 draw against Greece at the stadium in Thessaloniki. The German side controlled possession throughout the opening period, creating early opportunities through captain Florian Wirtz, who tested the Greek defence in the seventh minute and missed with a header in the nineteenth minute. Greece produced an immediate scoring opportunity shortly after kickoff, requiring German goalkeeper Jonas Urbig to make a save on a header from Georgios Masouras. Germany appeared to take the lead shortly before half-time when forward Jonathan Burkardt directed the ball into the net. However, referee Clément Turpin disallowed the goal following a video assistant referee review, which established that Burkardt had committed a foul in the centre circle during the build-up.

Tactical shift and physical second half
The tempo slowed during the second half as Greece increased their physical intensity following the substitution of Konstantinos Karetsas. The Greek side positioned up to ten players inside their own penalty box, denying Germany space in the attacking third. Germany's midfield pairing of Aleksandar Pavlovic and Tom Bischof attempted to control distribution, but offensive precision waned after the hour mark. Waldemar Anton, who received a yellow card in the 35th minute, faced difficulty playing out from the back, prompting Klopp to bring on Nick Woltemade to bolster the frontline. Sideline tensions escalated late in the game, resulting in Turpin showing a red card to a member of the Greek coaching staff. Right-back Philipp Treu had an opportunity to secure victory in the closing minutes, but his effort failed to find the net.
We built up a lot of pressure, but we just did not score the damn goal. That is annoying. Overall we can be satisfied with how we played; there was a lot of good in it.
Klopp's evaluation of the squad
The scoreless draw leaves Germany third in their UEFA Nations League group, complicating their path to the quarter-finals. Across his first four matches as national team manager, the 59-year-old Klopp oversaw one victory (2-0 against Serbia), two draws, and a 0-1 defeat to Greece in the reverse fixture. Over the two-week camp, Klopp called up 44 players across two separate squads, handing senior international debuts to ten players. Freiburg defender Philipp Treu established himself as a regular by starting three of the four fixtures, while Newcastle United defender Malick Thiaw earned starts in two matches to reinforce the defence.

Reactions to the opening window
Speaking after the final whistle, Klopp expressed satisfaction with his team's execution, noting that their counter-pressing functioned effectively for 90 percent of the match before fatigue set in after the 60th minute.
The boys played an incredible football match that was really top in all areas, except that we did not score from our chances or failed to see the better-positioned player in the final third.
Debutant Derry Scherhant stated that the team must build on their first-half performance despite the frustration of failing to score. European media offered a more reserved assessment of the match, with France's L'Équipe pointing to a lack of attacking imagination and Spain's Marca observing that Klopp's team had yet to gain momentum. Greece celebrated the result, with Greek newspaper Ta Nea noting that the home team remained unbeaten in the group to sustain their pursuit of the Nations League quarter-finals.
