Panathinaikos signs Levi García on season-long loan from Spartak Moscow with purchase option
The 28-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international returns to Greece after completing a medical in Russia, becoming the club's 11th summer signing ahead of the European deadline.
The deal
Panathinaikos announced the signing of Levi García in the early hours of Wednesday, 5 August 2026. The 28-year-old forward joins on a one-season loan from Spartak Moscow, with the Greek club retaining a purchase option for the following summer. The announcement was made via the club's official channels.
García underwent the required medical examinations in Russia, and the results were satisfactory. He is expected to arrive in Athens on a flight from Moscow in the early morning hours of Wednesday.
European registration
Panathinaikos moved quickly to register García for its European squad before the deadline. That means the new forward will be available to the coach for the return leg against CSKA 1948.
Career path
Born on 20 November 1997 in Santa Flora, Trinidad and Tobago, García began his career with T&TEC SC and later Central FC. He moved to Europe in 2016 at age 19, joining AZ Alkmaar, where he made 43 appearances and also spent time on loan at Excelsior.
In the summer of 2018 he was acquired by Israel's Ironi Kiryat Shmona, playing there for one year before transferring to Beitar Jerusalem. In September 2020 he joined AEK Athens, winning one league title and one Greek Cup in 2023, while recording 160 appearances, 56 goals and 27 assists.
In February 2025 he moved to Russia with Spartak Moscow, where he made 48 appearances and won a Russian Cup. At international level he has earned 54 caps and scored 12 goals for Trinidad and Tobago.
Summer rebuild
García becomes Panathinaikos's 11th transfer this summer, following Van Drongelen, Kamara, Kangwa, Rastoder, Peña, Tsapras, Shehu, Christiansen, De Vrij and Zaroury, the latter purchased from Lens.
