Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua face off in London as Joshua reveals Peter Fury joins camp
Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury shared a stage at Olympia London on Wednesday ahead of their December 11 bout in Cardiff, with Joshua disclosing that Fury's uncle Peter is assisting his training camp.
Launch conference at Olympia London
Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury faced off publicly for the first time on Wednesday at Olympia London, six days after confirming their heavyweight bout. The hour-long launch event drew an audience of 1,000 spectators ahead of their meeting scheduled for 11 December at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Both fighters maintained a respectful tone throughout the presentation, contrasting with previous promotional negotiations.
During the proceedings, Fury suggested to Joshua that the two share a pint of Guinness once the fight concludes. Joshua smiled at the offer while remaining cautious about his opponent's psychological tactics.
I don't know if I can trust you.
The face-off ended when Joshua tickled Fury in the midriff as Fury spoke during sustained eye contact.
Peter Fury joins training preparations
Ahead of the bout, Joshua revealed that he has established contact with Peter Fury, Tyson Fury's uncle and former trainer. Peter Fury parted ways with Tyson following his world title victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015. Joshua noted that he spoke with Peter as recently as a month ago, confirming that the trainer agreed to assist his corner.
I speak to Peter Fury, he's willing to help me. Me and Peter get along.
Joshua clarified that the discussions focused on his own technique rather than specific tactical revelations about Tyson Fury. Peter reviewed Joshua's previous performances to identify technical adjustments. Joshua noted that while he receives tactical advice from multiple sources, he remains the ultimate decision-maker regarding his fight plan.
Corner staff and European camp
Joshua has also resumed his partnership with trainer Ben Davison, who previously worked in Tyson Fury's corner and coaches Fabio Wardley and Moses Itauma. Davison trained Joshua for three bouts between December 2023 and November 2025, a stint that concluded with a knockout defeat against Daniel Dubois. Joshua stated that he identified areas for technical improvement from that loss and selected Davison and Peter Fury for their ability to pinpoint tactical details.
