Three separate knife attacks in Barcelona leave four people injured within ten hours
Police in Barcelona are investigating three separate knife incidents between Saturday afternoon and early Sunday that left four people injured, including two minors in El Carmel, and resulted in two arrests.
Road dispute stabbing in Trinitat Nova
A confrontation between two motorists on Saturday afternoon resulted in a stabbing along a major thoroughfare in Barcelona. The incident occurred at approximately 16:00 outside building number 379 on Via Favència, situated in the Trinitat Nova neighbourhood near the Ronda de Dalt. Video footage recorded at the scene and shared across social media by the account @circuliperladreta.cat showed both men engaged in a heated argument in the middle of the carriageway. The altercation forced other vehicles to halt and disrupted traffic across both available lanes. The dispute escalated until one of the drivers struck the other in the head with a bladed weapon. The assailant fled immediately, while municipal emergency services were dispatched to the site. Personnel from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) treated the victim, who sustained mild head injuries, and evacuated him to a local healthcare facility. Officers from the Guàrdia Urbana de Barcelona secured the perimeter and launched a search to trace the fleeing driver.
Mass brawl in Sant Martí
Hours later, police units were dispatched to the Sant Martí district following reports of a violent clash among a group of people. The brawl took place at around 21:15 on Carrer de la Llacuna and involved approximately ten individuals fighting on the street. When patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra arrived at the scene, they discovered one person suffering from knife wounds. First responders from the SEM attended to the wounded individual on site before arranging an ambulance transfer to a hospital. Following the confrontation, Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrested two suspects at the location. One detainee is accused of being the author of the knife attack, while the second individual faces criminal charges for making threats.
Stabbing of minors in El Carmel
The third violent incident unfolded during the early hours of Sunday morning in the neighbourhood of El Carmel. At approximately 01:30, the Mossos d'Esquadra received an emergency alert reporting an injured young person on Carrer de Sigüenza. Officers responding to the call located a second wounded minor nearby on the adjacent Carrer de Sacedón. Both victims had suffered injuries caused by bladed weapons. Medical teams from the SEM arrived to provide emergency care and transported both minors to a hospital. Police sources confirmed that neither victim sustained life-threatening wounds. The Mossos d'Esquadra opened a formal criminal investigation into the double assault in order to establish the circumstances and apprehend the suspects involved.

Preceding knife violence on Via Favència
Saturday afternoon's attack on Via Favència follows previous weapon-related incidents along that specific roadway. On 28 July 2026, law enforcement authorities arrested a woman on the same street after she assaulted her brother with a bladed weapon, leaving him with multiple stab wounds. An earlier incident in July 2025 saw three individuals injured during a mass street brawl involving machetes on Via Favència. Following the latest series of assaults across Trinitat Nova, Sant Martí, and El Carmel, both the Guàrdia Urbana and the Mossos d'Esquadra continue separate operational investigations to locate the perpetrators who remain at large.
