Four people found dead in Kielce flat block on Jagiełły Street, prosecutors investigate
Police found a man's body by a balcony and three more bodies inside a flat in a four-storey block in Kielce on Tuesday morning, 13 October. Identities and causes are still being established under prosecutors' supervision.
Four bodies found on Tuesday morning
Police received a report a dozen or so minutes after 7:00 on Tuesday, 13 October, about a man showing no signs of life by a balcony of a flat in a four-storey block on Jagiełły Street in Kielce. Police spokeswoman Małgorzata Perkowska-Kiepas said services were dispatched to the scene. Inside the flat, officers found the bodies of three more people, a woman and two young men, bringing the total to four. One report placed the bodies on the Pod Dalnią housing estate, while others name Jagiełły Street as the location.
Officers and the dog
Before they could enter the flat, officers had to catch an aggressive dog inside, a task carried out with help from shelter workers. Kurier Lubelski reported that firefighters, an ambulance and police were sent to the block, and gave the time of the emergency call as 7.11. By around 9 in the morning, emergency vehicles stood in front of the block and police tape had been put up.
Residents' accounts
Residents told Kurier Lubelski that the man was in his 50s and lived with his wife and two teenage sons. Police have not confirmed this account. One woman walking a dog told the paper she had seen him two days earlier, on Sunday, 11 October, and described him as friendly.
Investigation under way
Police are working at the scene to establish the identities of the dead and the circumstances of the incident. In an interview with Radio Eska, Perkowska-Kiepas described the work being done:
We are carrying out activities at the scene under the supervision of prosecutors, establishing identities, and the circumstances of this incident.
No cause of death and no link between the four people found has been reported so far, and the identities of the dead are still being confirmed.
