Successive home defeats against FC Sion (2-1) and FC Lugano (3-1), both coming after Basel held leads, prompted supporters to boo the former Swiss national team captain as he left the pitch on Sunday. Across 27 competitive fixtures in charge, Lichtsteiner recorded ten victories, three draws, and 14 defeats, producing a points-per-game average of 1.22.

Tactical adjustments and locker room discord
